Counseling
Our counselors see as their primary mission assisting Southwest Tech students to maximize their potential for educational and occupational success. As a Southwest Tech student, you probably will face many important, sometimes difficult decisions about academic, career, or personal issues. However, you don't have to face them alone. We encourage you to consult with your counselor to explore in a confidential setting your aspirations, abilities, interests, or related educational issues, or to address any other concerns you might have about your life as a Southwest Tech student.
Academic Counseling
Academic counseling helps you to determine your readiness for technical college and assists you in making the transition to Southwest Tech. This might include academic planning or guidance to help you modify behaviors and develop skills necessary to succeed academically. Academic counseling is available to students who need assistance in class selection, transfer of credit, or general information about the College, including admission requirements.

Career Counseling
Career counseling is available to you if you are undecided about what career to pursue or are considering a career change. The process stresses personal assessment of interests, abilities, values, and work and educational experience through interest inventories, values clarification, and goal setting.
Personal Counseling
Personal counseling is available to help students identify and cope with those personal challenges, large and small, that we all encounter from time to time and which can dramatically impact our performance. Our counselors are adept at crisis intervention, grief counseling, and advocacy on behalf of students; and they are able to make professional referrals as appropriate.
