New Student Orientation 2024

We are thrilled that you chose Southwest Tech! The next step on your college journey is attending New Student Orientation! New Student Orientation is for all students starting a new program in Fall 2024.  

New Student Orientation gives you all the tools you need to be successful at Southwest Tech, including:

  • Receive and set up your Charger Tech 360 laptop.
  • Learn how to use essential Academic Support Services at the Knox Learning Center.
  • Meet your classmates and instructors.
  • Learn about other student support services.
  • Get your student ID.
  • Order textbooks.

Supporter Sessions

New Student Orientation is a day focused on you, the student. If you would like to bring a supporter/parent/spouse, please indicate that in your orientation registration. It is not required to have a supporter, but they are welcome.  Keep in mind, your supporter will have their own sessions to attend and will not be with you during your orientation day.

Online registration for the New Student Orientation sessions on July 16, 17 and 18 is now closed. If you would still like to sign up for one of these sessions, please email orientation@swtc.edu.

New Student Orientation Schedule

On orientation day, check in opens at 8 AM and will be open until 8:30 AM.  The program begins at
8:30 AM in the auditorium. Please remember to bring your cell phone as you will need it to access your Charger Tech 360 Laptop and accounts.

After the scheduled sessions, please feel free to stay on campus to:

  • Have lunch (available for purchase in the café).
  • Make an appointment to meet with a staff member to complete your To Dos.
  • Take a tour of campus to find your classrooms or see Student Housing.

Preparation for New Student Orientation

  1. Sign your Charger Tech 360 Laptop Agreement.
    • Login to the Charger Tech 360 Portal to verify your information and sign the agreement. Use your @swtc.edu email address.
  2. Notify SWTC Staff about any dietary restrictions.
    • Email orientation@swtc.edu with any dietary restrictions you may have at least ONE WEEK before your New Student Orientation session.
  3. Notify SWTC Staff about any accommodations.
  4. Make an appointment with someone to complete your To Dos.
    • Go to www.swtc.edu/appointments and make an appointment with departments on campus you have questions for or to complete your To Dos. Your To Dos can be found in your SWTC Student Portal.
