Southwest Tech Instructor Establishes Scholarship for Fennimore Community Members Attending Southwest Tech
Fennimore, Wisconsin -Murray Heitzer, a Math and Science instructor at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College, will be retiring after more than 13 years of service to the college. Heitzer, Fennimore 2015 Citizen of the Year and a significant contributor to the city pool project, is also celebrating his twentieth anniversary as the owner of a manufacturing company supplying custom quilts to the funeral industry. In celebration of his “satisfying career experience” and his retirement, Heitzer has issued a request and challenge to Fennimore businesses and community members to co-sponsor scholarships for Southwest Tech students from Fennimore.
Heitzer will match up to fifty, $50 donations, totaling $2,500, for the Fennimore Community Scholarship with the goal to raise a total of $5,000 for Southwest Tech students from Fennimore. Those participating will also receive a special commemorative t-shirt, sponsored by Heitzer.
Heitzer stressed, “There are countless education-enabled career opportunities for everyone, regardless of age!” Heitzer was very pleased with his experience establishing the scholarship and encourages fellow Southwest Tech retirees to organize scholarships in their respective communities. “Lots of fifties, for the memorable fiftieth anniversary of an unforgettable institution.”
