Golf Course Management Program has 100% Job Placement

The Golf Course Management Program at Southwest Tech has been fortunate to have a 100% job placement rate since 1999.  This year proved no different as all 4 graduates have secured employment prior to graduation.

Job Title: Intern – Grounds Crew

Job Responsibilities: Maintain greens, fairways and other areas

What are looking forward to in your career after graduation: I plan to attend Iowa State to get my Bachelors Degree

What did you enjoy about Southwest Tech?  I love the togetherness at Southwest Tech and all the hands on experience I have had

Ethan Cook

Hometown: Waupun, Wisconsin

Program: Golf Course Management

Place/location of employment after graduation: Dubuque Golf & Country Club. Dubuque, Iowa

Position/title: Pro Shop Attendant

Job responsibilities: Cashier, customer service, equipment knowledge, stocking/inventory control, answering phone calls, booking tee times

What are looking forward to in your career after graduation?  Gaining experience in the golf industry and growing my knowledge in equipment. I want to give members an easy and stress free experience when looking for new equipment, so that they are guaranteed to receive equipment that will improve THEIR game

What did you enjoy about Southwest Tech? When you go to Southwest Tech you will NOT get a university type experience. I enjoyed this because you were able to grow a more personal relationship with your instructors. You always feel like your instructors have time to help you and want you to succeed in their class

 

Trey Mohr

Hometown: Lone Rock, Wisconsin

Program: Golf Course Management

Place of Employment: The House on the Rock Resort in Spring Green, Wisconsin

Job Title: Pro-Shop Attendant/Grounds Crew

Job Responsibilities: Making tee times, merchandise sales/restocking, customer service

What are looking forward to in your career after graduation: I plan to attend UW-Stout to get my Bachelors Degree with the hopes of someday becoming a Head Pro/General Manager

What did you enjoy about Southwest Tech?  I have learned a lot about golf during my time here and I love the campus and small class sizes

 

Bennett Reese

Hometown: Scales Mound, Illinois

Program: Golf Course Management

Place of Employment: Sand Valley Golf Club in Rome, Wisconsin

Job Title: Assistant Golf Pro

Job Responsibilities: Customer service, pro-shop merchandise restocking and sales and giving golf lessons

What are looking forward to in your career after graduation: Working in and around a golf course
