FENNIMORE, Wis. — “Southwest Wisconsin Technical College nursing students have returned to Fennimore following an eight-day clinical rotation in Haiti. Students said the trip, illuminating as it was fatiguing, changed the outlook of participants. The experience was their first time practicing nursing in an impoverished country. The seven students assessed and treated about 800 children while in Haiti.”

Southwest Health Nurse practitioner Kayte McQuillan and nursing student Sarah Kieffer assess the health of a schoolchild at the Schools 4 Haiti Children’s Home in Mirebablais, Haiti. Kieffer, of Mineral Point, Wis., is completing her nursing degree at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College. She, along with six other nursing students, traveled to Haiti to complete clinical hours.
