Business Showcase planned for campus

Fennimore -

The Southwest Wisconsin Technical College Business and Industry Services Department is hosting its first Business Showcase on Wednesday, Feb. 2, from 2-6 p.m. The event, which is expected to be an annual event, is being held not only to showcase many new upgrades to campus, but also in response to emerging workforce trends, both as a result of the pandemic and the declining workforce population.

Over the last couple of years, Southwest Tech has been fortunate to be able to upgrade many areas of campus, including a new auditorium and bookstore. In addition, some existing spaces have been upgraded to allow for a more technology-friendly environment for meetings and trainings. General tours of campus will run during the Showcase every half hour starting at 2 p.m. at the main entrance. Registration is recommended for anyone interested in a customized tour.

A free Social Media Marketing Workshop will be held at 3 p.m. It will focus on leveraging the power of social media to communicate an organization’s brand. All participants will get a lesson on message maps and develop a preliminary plan for social media marketing.

At 4 p.m., the college will host off a Town Hall Forum in the new auditorium. Troy Maggied, executive director for Southwest Wisconsin Regional Planning will present a Population and Workforce Overview, specifically focused on the declining population in the region. Experts from around campus will then provide information and answer questions on various topics they have seen emerging as top concerns the college’s business partners have been facing. These topics include workplace culture, rapidly changing job skills, leadership, the pandemic and remote work and diversity, equity and inclusion.

Throughout the event, visitors can stop by the cafeteria to network and learn more about various training opportunities available at Southwest Tech, in addition to information on how businesses can utilize spaces and services on campus.

Registration for the event is recommended, but not required.  To learn more, visit www.swtc.edu/showcase.  For more information contact the Business and Industry Services Department at 608.822.2323 or email bis@swtc.edu.
