Free Outdoor Skills Day Event Moved to January

Fennimore -

The Grant County Outdoor Sport Alliance and Southwest Tech have once again teamed up to offer a free Outdoor Skills Day event for all ages on Saturday, January 31 from 10 am- 3 pm at the Ag/Auto Center on the College’s Fennimore campus. The event will combine hands-on activities and informational sessions including archery, bb guns, decoys and calls, fishing and fly casting, fly tying, furs and trapping, hunting with dogs, laser shot, taxidermy, cross country skiing and snowshoeing, reloading, tree stand safety, turkey hunting, and waterfowl hunting.

“We want to give people of all ages the opportunity to explore a variety of outdoor sporting activities,” explained Grant County Outdoor Sport Alliance President Kelly Tollefson. “There has been a steady decline in the amount of younger people exploring activities like hunting and fishing.  It’s our goal to expose individuals to these activities through learning events and show them that there is a responsible and legitimate use for firearms that can provide enjoyment when used in a safe manner. This event is great for those who think they want to get involved in outdoor activities, but don’t know where to start. It’s a great opportunity to explore a wide range of activities. ”

This is the third year the Grant County Outdoor Sport Alliance and Southwest Tech have come together to offer this family friendly event to the public.
