Scott serving as WTCS ambassador

Fennimore -

Jordan Scott, a graduate of the IT-Network Specialist program at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College, is serving as a WTCS (Wisconsin Technical College System) ambassador. Scott, and one representative from each of Wisconsin’s technical colleges, participated, in a leadership development and recognition program last year sponsored by Baird, a global, employee-owned, Milwaukee-based financial services firm.

Jordan Scott

Scott, originally from Muscoda, Wisconsin, had experience with Southwest Tech, prior to enrolling in the IT-Network Specialist program. “I chose Southwest Wisconsin Technical College as I was a previous student over the past decade,” he said. “I had taken the EMT-B and firefighting courses and enjoyed my time on campus. After being a correctional officer for many years, I decided to change my career path and began exploring my options. I had always been fond of technology and wanted to explore what Southwest Tech offered in that category. I contacted a current employee who is a friend of mine from high school, Brianna Fortney. She pointed me in the right direction to explore my options.”

“After a tour of the IT program area and a discussion with the program instructor, Aaron Holverson, I knew this was the direction I wanted to go,” added Scott. “Every semester after solidified that choice. I finally feel like I am doing the right thing and developing a knowledge base that makes me successful.”

After a day of team building and leadership development, the students were celebrated at a formal banquet attended by family members, System and college leaders and other invited guests. There, the students received an award and scholarship and shared stories of determination, perseverance and success.

Following the banquet, the students officially serve as WTCS ambassadors for one year and, unofficially, for a lifetime.
