Southwest Tech Foundation Celebrates Donors

Fennimore-WI- On February 15-19 -

WI- On February 15-19 The Southwest Tech Foundation celebrated #IHeartDonors Week on campus. The goal of the week was to increase student understanding of philanthropy and celebrate donors of Southwest Tech. Faculty and staff who had donated to the Foundation were given red balloons on Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday the Student Nursing Association hosted a Blood Drive while Stephanie Brown, Resident Life and Student Resources Coordinator and Shelby Merwin, a current nursing student held a Be The Match and Dottie Dot campaign to raise awareness of bone marrow and organ donations. Throughout the week over 150 students and staff stopped by to sign a giant Thank You card to show their appreciation to Southwest Tech donors. The week ended with a Pay It Forward food drive for the Charger Cupboard, the campus food pantry. Nearly 400 items were collected by the students and their instructors to be donated.

“I’m really happy with the outcome of the week,” said Kim Schmelz, director of External Relations and Alumni Development for Southwest Tech. “Students were engaged and really showed their appreciation for donors and support for others through their contributions to the Charger Cupboard.”

The Southwest Tech Foundation will host its annual Scholarship Reception on March 2 and will award out $144,400 in scholarships to students. The giant thank you card will be on display for all donors to see.
