Spring commencement ceremonies planned

Fennimore -

For the first time in three years the Southwest Wisconsin Technical College Spring Commencement will be held in the Ag/Auto Center on campus. Due to precautions surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2020, a special commencement video was produced and in 2021 a celebratory CARCade was held outside, celebrating the graduates.

“It certainly has been a challenging few years as we navigated our way through the pandemic,” said Dr. Jason Wood, Southwest Tech president. “I am extremely proud of our students who have graduated during this difficult time and of those students who will walk across the stage in May. Their determination in the face of adversity will result in a bright future.”

This year’s festivities will be slightly different than in previous years, however. On Friday, May 20, the PN and Nurse Pinning Ceremony will be held in the campus auditorium, followed by the Nursing Graduation Ceremony at 3:30 p.m. All other programs will graduate on Saturday, May 21 in the Ag/Auto Center, and they will be divided into three ceremonies. Those ceremonies will be held at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. For a specific list of programs and times, see www.swtc.edu/graduation.

“As protocols have changed we are excited and eager to honor our graduates with an in-person ceremony,” said Danielle Seippel, registrar and chairperson of the commencement planning committee. “I am proud of our faculty and staff for all the work they have done the past few years helping our students move onto the next chapter in their life. Graduation day is a day of celebration for all of us.”

The student and alumni speakers are being finalized and will be announced online once they are selected.
