Women’s History Month profile | Lucretia Wilson
Fennimore -Women’s History Month
Each year, March is recognized as Women’s History Month. This year’s theme is “Women Providing Healing, Promoting Health,” which recognizes the many ways in which women have provided healing and hope to humanity for countless generations.
Throughout the month we will feature our students, both in traditional and non-traditional programs, as well as those involved in athletics on campus. #SWTCProud

What brought you to Southwest Tech?
I came to Southwest Tech because I previously enjoyed the school when I went before. SWTC had the IT program and always wondered if it was supposed to be my “thing.” I never knew what all it entailed, but learning I was going to have a professor I previously had, and enjoyed, made me that much more confident in trying this path.
I started with the IT-Computer Support Technician program, which then piqued my interest to continue into the IT-Network Specialist program.
I enjoy a lot of things about Esports really. The fact I get to play games with a bunch of fellow gamers is amazing. Also, how it has helped a lot of people meet, connect, and have support from others outside their programs at SWTC is great.
When do you graduate? What are your plans after graduation?
I will graduate May 21, 2022. I plan on moving to Colorado and hope to find a job doing this “thing” I love.
What empowers you to complete your education in your field?
I am empowered by the people around me mostly. I have made some great connections in this program that I know will last a lifetime. Having that extra boost from classmates and professors when you’re feeling stuck, is something you don’t get at every school.
How does Southwest Tech empower you to complete your goals?
SWTC provides so many resources to help you succeed that it’d be hard not to if you really want it. They always ask what else they can improve to give you that support. My student advisor has been amazing and extremely helpful navigating all the things at school. Plus, SWTC normally always has snacks and I love snacks.
