Hired Before Graduation | Jason Oyen

Jason Oyen

Hometown: Potosi, Wisconsin

Program: IT-Network Specialist

Male student standing next to computer servers.

Why did you choose your program?

Ever since I was in the fourth grade I’ve had quite the interest in technology, no matter the device or application. I taught myself how to use anything that was put in front of me. My classmates and teachers always found me when they had a tech issue. Although it wasn’t my first career choice when applying for colleges, it ended up being the right one. The IT field is a great field to be a part of with its continuous growth. With that, most jobs haven’t been invented yet. Technology will always be a part of our everyday lives and that’ll never change.

What have you enjoyed about your Southwest Tech experience?

I’ve enjoyed every aspect about my SWTC experience. Every instructor, employee, and classmate has treated me like family, pushing me to become successful in my field.

Are you involved in any student club or activities on campus?

Yes, I am a member of the Southwest Techies (SWt3k3z) club on campus. I also plan to attend Cyphercon, a conference in Milwaukee with classmates and club members.

Where will you be employed?

Grant Regional Health Center | Lancaster, Wisconsin

What will be your job title and responsibilities?

Information Systems Analyst. I will assist in maintaining their network, along with solving any technological problem that arises.
