Hired Before Graduation | Parker Mindham

Parker Mindham

Female dental assistant holding fake teeth.

Hometown: Wauzeka, Wisconsin

Program: Dental Assistant

Why did you choose your program?

I chose dental assisting because I had an interest in the medical field, but none of the other career paths seemed right for me.

What did you enjoy about your Southwest Tech experience?

I enjoyed the clinical and lab experiences the most because that’s when we all were able to really flourish and learn from one another. Learning hands on has always been the best for me and the Dental Assistant program was perfect for learning hands on. The size of the class was small so it made it easier to meet new people and be able to have a more one-on-one experience.

Where are you employed?

Access Community Health Center in Dodgeville, Wisconsin.

What is your job title and what are your responsibilities?

As of now I am the Dental Clinic Aid. I am responsible for running the sterilization area and making sure the instruments are clean and good to go and helping out wherever help is needed. We are currently under construction and adding more operatories so when the operatories are finished and we hire a new dentist I will be transitioning into being a full-time dental assistant!
