Student Spotlight: Kaye Woodke

Kaye Woodke. Cheerleader. Social Bee. Uber-Organized. Administrative Professional Student.

While keeping busy at Boscobel High School, Kaye managed to be involved in almost everything like choir, Leo’s, Student Council, and cheerleading. During her senior year, she was even co-captain of the football cheerleading squad.

“Being an upperclassman comes with great responsibility. The younger cheerleaders look up to you. You always have to keep yourself in check. That skill is very transferable into my career.”

Kaye graduated high school in 2015 and made the choice to enroll in the Administrative Professional Associate Degree program at Southwest Tech.

“I always liked the idea of working in a school but not as a teacher, instead as a secretary. Working at the Boscobel Library has already given me some experience working with people and completing tasks in a timely matter.”

Kaye is enjoying her experience at Southwest Tech. She is a member of the Student Ambassador team, Student Senate, and Phi Theta Kappa.

“I chose Southwest Tech because it was close to home and affordable. When I first came here I thought I would just go to school, graduate, and leave. Now, I am in love with the school. Everyone is so helpful and it’s a like a second home to me.”

In her free time, Kaye loves to bake, spend time with friends, write, and read. Her caring attitude has helped her enjoy helping other people. Her cheerleading experience even led to a position as the wrestling cheerleader coach.

When Kaye graduates from her program, she would like to get a job locally so she can stay close to her mom and her home.
