  • Welding Academy

  • Southwest Tech Welding Academy – Summer 2025

    What is the Welding Academy?

    Southwest Tech’s Welding Academy provides students with the opportunity to complete courses from the first two semesters of the Welding program, preparing them for multiple career pathways:

    • Workforce Entry: Find employment as a carbon steel GMAW welder.
    • Further Education: Continue your education to finish their full Welding technical diploma.
    • Additional Credentials: Enhance other technical programs such as Ag Power or Electro-Mechanical Technology with welding skills.

    Who is it for?
    Southwest Tech is partnering with Southwest Wisconsin Alliance for Growth (SWAG) in Manufacturing to provide dislocated workers with fast, high-quality training for a new career in welding.

    Program Overview

    • Duration: 8 weeks
    • Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
    • Dates: June 2 – July 31 (No classes the week of July 4)
    • Enrollment Cap: 14 students
    • Credits Earned: 6 college credits

    Students may also have the opportunity to participate in paid training with a regional manufacturing employer in the afternoons.

    Cost & Funding

    • 3 credits are covered through WIG funding, with tuition and textbooks included. These courses must be completed by June 30 and include:
      • Equipment Safety
      • Blueprint Reading
      • GMAW Equipment
    • Students are responsible for funding the remaining 3 credits, unless additional funding sources become available.

  • CNA

  • The summer Nursing Assistant course begins Monday, June 2, 2025, with theory delivered online over 3 weeks, alongside one (6-hour) in-person campus lab day each week. Theory and lab run 6/2–6/23/25.
    There will be no school obligations from 6/24 through 7/6/25.

    Clinical rotations begin 7/7/25 and must be completed on or before 8/2/25. Students will be assigned to one of the following lab sections, which determines their clinical schedule:

    • Monday Lab Section
    • Tuesday Lab Section
    • Wednesday Lab Section
    • Wednesday Afternoon/ Evening Lab Section

    Clinical sites and dates will be determined during the first week of class.
    Assignments may include day or PM shifts, depending on the section.

  • Summer English Language Learning Pre-College Program

  • Date: June 15 – June 19

    Location: Southwest Tech

    Who's it for?
    High school and incoming college students

    What's it about?
    This program is designed to help students improve their English language skills before starting college. It includes 16 hours of ELL instruction aimed at providing learners with the tools they need to succeed in college and beyond. Participants will also enjoy fun activities planned throughout the week.
