My name is Casey Prochniak. I have a "small", okay, modest, sized dairy goat farm in South Central Minnesota with my husband, Adam and my 2 children, Benjamin and Delaney. I am a Certified Veterinary Technician by trade. I work in a mixed practice vet clinic part-time and I'm a full-time mom, run the farm and make goat milk caramel candies. My dairy life started when I was in elementary school. I grew up on a cow dairy farm but wanted to show dairy goats in 4-H and purchased an Alpine doe. One doe turned to two and well, the rest is history. My herd transitioned to primarily Toggenburgs until recently when I was gifted an Alpine doe from a good friend of mine and restarted my Alpine herd. Wanting to better my herd with genetics too far away to use in person, I took a class on Artificial insemination. Artificial insemination can be a great tool to add genetics to your herd. This class will go over the how-to and the hands-on procedure.
